Recognition of prior learning

Available through Powerline Training Pty Ltd a registered training organisation, RPL assessment enables you to accelerate the process of gaining a qualification and enhancing your career prospects. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process through which you can gain formal recognition for the skills you have acquired in the workplace and through life experience. This is an alternate way of demonstrating and gaining acknowledgement for the skills you have already attained.

Safe Approach to Live Electrical Apparatus (SAD's)

This course provides the participant with the knowledge and skills to maintain safe approach distances (SAD’s) to Extra High Voltage (EHV), high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical apparatus and how they apply in a transmission or distribution work environment when working, or operating vehicles or mobile plant, on or near live electrical apparatus. It encompasses responsibilities for, health, safety and risk management processes and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work

Transmission powerline earthing principles and application

This course provides the participant with the knowledge and skills plus the understanding of the principles of earthing de-energised transmission powerline lines and the hazards and risks involved when applying a portable earth.

Working with mobile plant near live electrical apparatus

This course provides the participant with the knowledge and skills and a thorough understanding of the principles of working with mobile plant near energised overhead powerlines. It includes the hazards and risks involved to persons, plant and equipment and the responsibilities for adherence to enterprise safe work practices.

ESI - Safety observer training

This course provides the participant with the knowledge and skills to become a competent Safety Observer in an electrical supply industry environment

  • Application – When a safety observer shall be used
  • Specific duties of a safety observer – Areas of responsibility
  • Techniques in observing others – Effective communication and Positioning to observe
  • Safe approach distances – For personnel and mobile plant
  • Workplace procedures – Thorough knowledge of the purpose of workplace procedures
  • Workparty actions – Controlled movements and Communication

 

Transmission powerline asset inspection

This course provides the participant with the knowledge and skills plus the thorough understanding of the inspection requirements for overhead transmission powerline structures, associated hardware and overhead conductors. It also includes the completion of inspection reports and other relevant documentation in accordance with enterprise requirements.

Working near live electrical apparatus for telecommunications workers

This course provides the participants with the knowledge and skills to maintain Safe Approach Distances to energised Transmission Powerlines, it also covers Working Safely at Height in an electrical environment and the Emergency Rescue of an injured or ill person from a transmission power line structure. Encompassing responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes and adherence to safety work practices as part of the normal way of doing work.
